Organisation of Ruislip Churches Holiday for Young Disabled

ORCHYD was formed in 1971 when the Ruislip Christian Council, together with The Spastics Society (now Scope), organised their very first holiday for physically disabled children. This was such an outstanding success that it has been run every year since.

The essential purpose of the organisation is to arrange a fun-filled 10-day activity holiday in the summer for disabled children, boys and girls, whose ages range from 8 to 12 years. The children come from any part of the UK, but mostly from Hillingdon and the London area.

Each year, ORCHYD aims to provide an exciting and diverse programme of activities as the foundation of a most satisfying and appropriate holiday for all those taking part. At the same time, ORCHYD ensures that the highest standards of supervision, safety and security are always in place.

To learn more about the work of ORCHYD and find out how children qualify to go on this holiday, who can help and how the holiday is funded, please visit the ORCHYD website
